Still no pics...just ramblings

Crazy week at the Lyons house. My parents went on a business trip to Las Vegas this last week so Jacob stayed with Shannon Tuesday and Wednesday and then with Brancent on Thursday.
His first tooth came in around the first of the month and the second came in right after. Someday when I find the charger for my camera battery I'll try to snap his new pearly whites.

We are so excited to see Katie this weekend. We pick her up Saturday morning and she'll be here a whole week! YAY! She doesn't know about the new car yet so we'll keep that a surprise.

Yesterday was the Christmas Celebration at the Deaf church. It's a day we have dramas, different classes sing etc. Pastor Darrell and Kiefer (one of the youth) did a skit and in it Darrell was a donkey. So funny with a important message. Part of it being so funny is that Josh and Joseph voiced (Darrell's sons) and Joseph would bray every now and then. First time he did it I almost fell out of my pew. Hoping to get a video of it posted sometime. Classic Deaf church moments I wouldn't trade for anything. The service ended with 4 baptisms (3deaf 1 CODA) in including a multi handicapped boy and a 83 year old lady. Then last night Simon Swopes was baptized. We didn't get to go but Grandma and Grandpa took lots of pics and videos for us to see. Simon we are so proud of you and love you!

Wanted to post a video we watched yesterday, but having issues with my computer....if you go to www.adventconspiracy.org there is a video on their home page and it's also posted on YouTube, Check it out!

My new ride :D

A bright warm spot in my frigid day (aside from Jacob and Brancent) is my new ride. We are selling the truck to my dad and buying this lovely 2006 Hyundai Sonata. It's so nice and even has a sunroof which of course I can't use today since it's snowing. I don't have my camera so these are the best pics I could get from my IPhone. It looks purple but is a dark cherry or maroon color. So pretty!

Jacob's check up

Today we went for Jacob's 6 month check up (even though he will be 7 months Sunday-the ear infection delayed the check up) He weighed 18.8 lbs and is 27 1/2 inches. The Dr says he looks great and is doing very well developmentally. Brancent was there and the Dr office provided an interpreter. (Thanks to the terp!) So Brancent got to share the plethora of information that I normally have to try to remember on my own. Jacob is pulling up like a mad man. I have no idea how he did it, but this morning he was on his belly playing in the living room and when I peeked in a few minutes later he was sitting up in front of the recliner trying to pull up on it. Here are a couple of pics from this week. Thanks for the cowboys outfit Nana!
Are you ready for some football? So funny!Hanging out Thanksgiving day

Brancent's first buck

*** Warning if you are a PETA lover don't read on....well actually go ahead...you might learn something :)

Before I continue let me throw this out there: The people I have meet that are the most educated and respectful of wildlife and the earth that God gave us, are hunters. I am not talking about the hillbilly's who tie the dead animals to the hood of the car. I mean real hunters. There is a time when hunting is necessary. It's not something I personally would enjoy. However I would like to learn to shoot a compound bow. I don't have the heart to kill something (except when I was pregnant I did come close-the lady who stole my wallet) but for some people that 's something that doesn't bother them and that's fine with me. (and Jesus was not a vegitarian-he was a Jew-lamb is quite yummy)
All that said.....

Friday after work Brancent went hunting with his dad Gene and his nephew Drake. He has not been able to go hunting in a long time and was quite nervous. They spent the night in Shamrock and planned to hunt Saturday morning then head back to Amarillo. Brancent said he woke up at 3:30 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep because he was so excited. Thank goodness for ESPN to help pass the time. I was at my parents house getting ready to help my mom paint her basement when I got a text message at 8:08 a.m. "I shot a buck!!" This was his first buck and he is extremely proud as he should be. So Deer jerky looks to be in our future if anyone has good recipies to share :)
