Please Pray

A friend of ours Josiah Withrow (16 years old) had a heart transplant yesterday evening. Please pray peace and God's healing hand on him and his family. Also please pray for the family in California that donated the heart.

For the Grandma's

So excited to go to Grandma's

Showing off the outfit Nana Beth bought (actually that Brooke, Jaime and Melanie bought with Nana's credit card) before Jacob was born. Finally fits!

Silly Chihuahua

What a weekend. We had our annual Deaf Women's retreat this past weekend and had a good time. I think one of the coolest parts is our dinner Saturday night. The men prepare it serve it restaurant style and....clean up. It's great. Brancent helped with the main dish so hopefully he'll cook it at home again.
Yesterday went to Lubbock to pick up some games from Patty for the Fall Festival Friday. Thanks Aunt Patty! We also saw Simon during his lunch at school which is always a joy. Last night we went to Brancent's Maw maw's (Gwen) house. We hadn't seen her in a while so we stopped by. She has 2 old Chihuahua's that are quite the barkers. They scare Katie to death even though they really couldn't do any harm. I was wondering what Jacob would do when they barked. Well we went amid the chorus of barks and sat down. Jacob in his normal wide-eyed state stared at the dogs. Trouble (the dog named for obvious reasons) continued to bark. All of the sudden Jacob starts laughing. The more Trouble barked the harder Jacob would laugh. All the adults were laughing too. So I guess as of now he likes the dogs and finds them very silly. Of course Troubles wouldn't bark and Jacob wouldn't laugh as soon as I got my camera.
Here is a video from in the car. Jacob was half laughing half whining. Someday I'll catch him really laughing but for now...pardon my voice :)

Boys and Baseball

What a weekend. Friday and Saturday I worked in Lubbock while Brancent, Jacob, Jared,Patty, Simon, Nelva and Wayne hung out. We had a hotel room so Simon and his friend got to swim with Uncl Brancent and Grandpa. We wanted Jacob to swim but it was to cold.
Sunday was a typical busy day and we hosted "Seven" at our house. We had it early so we could all watch the final game between the Sox and Rays. Our friend Matt is a Sox fan while his brother Andrew (love the mowhawk!) is a Rays fan. Jacob was very entertained by all the big boys at our house. Sox lost but we still love em. However if they get rid of Varitek my love may wane.... I will be cheering Tampa bay on in the World Series.
Lots going on this week for me with our Women's retreat coming up this weekend. Super excited and busy. Hope you all have a great week!

It worked!

Ok so know that I know I can download videos I had to put the video of Jacob's first baby food experience. It's kinda long so know if you are not related to us I don't expect you to watch it :) Apparently he won't be a picky eater.

Where'd it go????

This week has flown by. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was because I took off work Monday (which was a fabulous day with Jacob) or because I didn't really get a weekend but I can't believe it's Thursday. Jacob is doing good still drooling and chewing everything he can get his hands on. As of today he has eaten sweet potatoes and carrots which he loved. Tonight is squash so we'll see how that goes. Brancent is good just dissapointed the Red Sox may not make it to the World series. Like a true Sox fan though he hasn't given up on them nor will he until the last out in the ninth inning. Last Sunday night was the first night of our new youth home fellowship group called "Seven"...guess what time it starts? It was really good. It's a mix of college and high school. They are the best kids. We will rotate meeting at our house and Josh and Libby's house and rotate teaching week to week. I will be taking pictures and posting them in the future.

This video was from Tuesday night when we went to Lubbock along with my parents to the Sorenson open house. Brancent and I sat in the back with Jacob and had all kinds of fun. Jacob loves Brancent's voice and silly noises. They are very entertaining to watch.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

This and that

Jacob had baby food for the first time Tuesday night. He had sweet potatoes and seemed to like them despite some odd expressions. His chewing and drooling continues to get worse so we may see a tooth in the near future. In the meantime here is Jacob's take on recycling.

1. Excitedly receive junk mail

2. Insert into mouth and chew
Waiting for the sweet potatoesTaste like Chicken!!!....(if I knew what chicken tasted like)

Planning on flying any day now....

I'm back, and venting

Hello everyone. I am back from a very intense weekend. I am heading into a crazy week with lots of work. I am having Jacob withdrawals and not feeling like mother of the year of the moment :) So here is why I went to Atlanta. I will be working part time (weekends) for a great company called Sorenson doing video phone interpreting (www.sorenson.com). They are so in tune with taking care of the interpreters and are professional to the max-yet they still hired me! I will be able to do church work and community interpreting during the week. I have had several people ask me; well how are you going to have time to do that, your're leaving Jacob?!? Not that it is anyones business but let me set the record straight. I love my family and I want nothing more than to provide the best for them. Because of some bad decisions we are in an unbelievable amount of debt. So I now have the oppertunity to make really good money and make progress in paying off credit cards. So that's my plan. If you want to encourage me while I work like a crazy woman go for it, if you are a naysayer and have nothing but critisim, keep it to yourself or offer to pay off my bills.

Vent part 2. On the topic of Fall Festivals....Christmas (like several of our holidays) actually was started by the early church who did not want to take part in the pagan worship of the sun god. So they picked that same time as the pagan festival to celebrate the birth of the Son. Is that not what shinning for Christ in a dark world is about?? Taking what the world intends for evil and turning it into a time to worship and teach our kids to worship God. So all that to say I am not evil for wanting to host a fall festival. If don't agree with my thinking, fine....don't come :) but we'll still take your candy donations.
Have a great day everyone!
