I went the funeral of a friend's dad and I have been pondering several things the pastor said:
1) When people are on their death bed they never say I wish I had worked more shifts or put in more overtime. Instead it is regrets of not stopping and resting with family and friends. I have actually been thinking about this a lot lately and asking God where to draw my line (and strength to do it) when it comes to serving and my family. I know many kids who hate the ministry because their parent/s have made it more important than their children. I want/need God to teach me to Selah.
2) Why do we wait until someone dies to talk about the impact they made in our lives? I realize I need to express my thanks and admiration for those I love now before it's to late and I attend their funeral
3) Just like God took the lion Samson killed and allowed the bees to produce honey from it's carcass (yummy) So does He take the "lions" in our lives and allow us to taste it's sweetness. The whole beauty from ashes. So simple yet life-changing to those with spiritual ears. What a good God we serve.
