Jacob's check up

Today we went for Jacob's 6 month check up (even though he will be 7 months Sunday-the ear infection delayed the check up) He weighed 18.8 lbs and is 27 1/2 inches. The Dr says he looks great and is doing very well developmentally. Brancent was there and the Dr office provided an interpreter. (Thanks to the terp!) So Brancent got to share the plethora of information that I normally have to try to remember on my own. Jacob is pulling up like a mad man. I have no idea how he did it, but this morning he was on his belly playing in the living room and when I peeked in a few minutes later he was sitting up in front of the recliner trying to pull up on it. Here are a couple of pics from this week. Thanks for the cowboys outfit Nana!

Brancent's first buck

*** Warning if you are a PETA lover don't read on....well actually go ahead...you might learn something :)

Before I continue let me throw this out there: The people I have meet that are the most educated and respectful of wildlife and the earth that God gave us, are hunters. I am not talking about the hillbilly's who tie the dead animals to the hood of the car. I mean real hunters. There is a time when hunting is necessary. It's not something I personally would enjoy. However I would like to learn to shoot a compound bow. I don't have the heart to kill something (except when I was pregnant I did come close-the lady who stole my wallet) but for some people that 's something that doesn't bother them and that's fine with me. (and Jesus was not a vegitarian-he was a Jew-lamb is quite yummy)
All that said.....

Friday after work Brancent went hunting with his dad Gene and his nephew Drake. He has not been able to go hunting in a long time and was quite nervous. They spent the night in Shamrock and planned to hunt Saturday morning then head back to Amarillo. Brancent said he woke up at 3:30 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep because he was so excited. Thank goodness for ESPN to help pass the time. I was at my parents house getting ready to help my mom paint her basement when I got a text message at 8:08 a.m. "I shot a buck!!" This was his first buck and he is extremely proud as he should be. So Deer jerky looks to be in our future if anyone has good recipies to share :)

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving in Lubbock at Jared and Patty's and I was able to work some Thursday and Friday. Everyone had a good time and of course the food was great! Jared smoked a turkey and it was delicious. MMMMM MMMMM good

Happy Monday everyone! Yeah....I can't believe I used Happy and Monday in the same sentence either. The weekend was good. Friday night and Saturday morning I worked in Lubbock. Jacob and Brancent were suppose to journey with me but Friday morning he found out he would have to work until 6ish because so many people hadn't shown up. Thanks guys. So I made the trip alone and the boys stayed here. Only highlight was I got to see Simon (and Jared and Patty) Friday night and he showed me his very cool card tricks. Saturday night Brancent Jacob and I went to the Mendoza's house to watch the first half of the very sad OU vs Texas Tech game. Soooooooo sad.

Had some really cool things happen this weekend/today. God's provision makes me laugh sometimes and unfortunately I at times only take notice and acknowledge His provision when it comes to money. I'm working on it though....
1. I have an Iphone that my super cool boss/pastor gave to me. It is his old one but it works great and I love it! Long story short I went into an ATT store twice and then called once to get unlimited text added. Each time I was told it had been added but then I would get my bill (insert screams of horror here). This has been the pattern for 4 months! I was so frustrated and decided to call Saturday to see if I could report the imbecile that apparently added unlimited to my phone 3 times yet it never showed up. After explaining what had happened the lady told me she would backdate everything and add it. The amounts that I had paid for months past would have been overpayment and she would credit to me. It ended up that my bill for this month ($145) was wiped out by the credit and I still have a $17 credit left.

2. We received a check in the mail from Brancent's insurance. They are paying back for services between certain dates they should have covered but didn't. So they sent a nice little check in the mail. (No sorry, this doesn't mean my faithful blog readers will receive Christmas gifts-Jacob's Dr will receive an almost pay off of his bill from when he was born)

I think I am in a season where God is gently and constantly reminding me He is there regardless of the change and uncertainty around me. I admit change, big or little, is hard for me and I can get very rattled by it. However, the thought of His promise of continual presence is so good-like sitting in the sun in a fluffy chair at Starbucks with a cup of Mint white chocolate mocha kinda good or a slobbery kiss and smile from Jacob kinda good. :)

Good grief...he's only 6 months

So yesterday in the midst of a tired fit my mom set Jacob in his crib (at her house) and he started playing. She turned around and he had pulled to his knees. This morning I sat him in the crib again to see what he would do....

After this he got excited let and let go fell back and bonked his head. After lots of kisses from mommy he was fine and wanting to chew on something else. Only good thing is that for now he can only do this from the sitting position. He doesn't know how to go from lying to sitting so we are safe for a while....He is doing ok with the ear infection. Mornings and days he's fine but late afternoon and evenings get rough.

I am way behind in blogging. Mainly due to not having a computer that blogs easily on the weekends and a son with an ear infection. Jacob is doing good just fussy now and then, but he still dishes out his smile to any one who gives him attention. He slept the other night8:30 pm-8:00 am. I can't count how many times I got up to check on him. It was his first time to have medicine and I freaked myself out with the "what if he's allergic, what if he stops breathing, what if...." I think I prayed myself to sleep. I have lots of other fess ups but will save them for a later post. Rock n rollin

My friend Melissa has tagged me: this means I am suppose put a link to her site, share 7 random things about myself and then tag 7 blogger friends. As for the link I don't know how, but you can look to the top left of my page and click to see her blog The Haskell Rascals. I don't have 7 blogger friends but I will share the 7 random things.

1. I hate emails that have "forward this if you really love God"(I highly doubt God will ask me how many forwards I sent in His name on the day of judgment. or "Forward this to 10 people and witness a miracle" (Fail- I witness miracles everyday they are named Brancent and Jacob-ohhhhh burn)

2. I pick up annoying phrases from the hearing youth I am around, and a few of the Deaf ones (refer back to #1)

3. One of my numerous middle/high school nicknames was Naughty Duck-no it's not as bad as it sounds-quasi long story, if you really want to know ask next time you see me.

4. I have a gi-normous coffee cup holding candy on my desk-it's actually a planter

5. My oven has not worked since before Jacob was born-Stove top yes, oven no

6. Even though I am currently freezing in my Artic office I am munching on Hud's ice-so good- and will be found in a snowstrom in front of the fire eating icecream with my mom

7. I cried watchinig Jon and Kate plus 8 last Monday when they renewed their vows-and partly the thought of having 8 kids....

On my way to pick up Jacob last week I called my Mom and she and Jacob had just arrived back from an errand. She asked if she needed to take Jacob out of his car seat and I said it didn't matter to me it depended on his mood. When I got to her house this is what I found.Mom said it was being outside without the wind. They were watching the cars go by and naming the colors of the cars. Does he look relaxed or what!

The hair...by self

Ok here is the pic of my hair. I need to put a disclaimer that when I left the hairdresser last Friday it looked a lot better and can look better than this picture. My time spent on my hair varies depending on the mood of my child. Those of you with kids know what I mean.... By 8:30 a.m. I feel like I've had a full day and my hair looks like I have! LOL
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
