Then and Now

At my parents house each grandkid has a room. Simon's room has Jared's old waterbed which Simon sleeps on along with some of his toys. Jacob's room holds his crib and changing table and Katie's room is where she occasionally naps and watches TV. In Simon's room there is a very old wooden stove and sink. It was yours truly many years ago. It was given to us by some neighbors when we lived in Hereford, TX. I have cooked many imaginary masterpieces on that tiny stove. Jacob loves being in Simon's room and has recently discovered how to get the doors open on the stove and sink. The sink is actually a plastic bowl that can be removed. He has a blast playing with the tiny Tupperware set in it's 70's colors, harvest gold, olive green, burnt orange and brown. He was playing with them again Sunday after lunch. I went to check on him and yelled for the camera....

It somehow seemed so familiar.....

Great minds think alike! (as to us both being shirtless-total coincident)

Riding Big Boy Style

This past Sunday we purchased Jacob a new front facing car seat for my car. Brancent has had one in his car for awhile. We wanted one for my car that was more comfy for trips and that would grow with Jacob. Thanks to Apryl for the tip on this car seat, we won't ever need to buy him another one! Mom and I had a garage sale last Saturday and I made enough money to pay cash for the car seat and pay the youth camp deposit for Katie and I. So exciting, plus feels free to be rid of so much clutter! Of course had to snap a picture this morning of Jacob and his new seat.

Birthdays and boxes

What a weekend. Last Friday night Katie flew in for Jacob's birthday. (sidenote: It was fun having Katie here for part of Mother's day. She gave me a necklace that says mom and the O is a heart. When I got it I said " I feel like a real mom now!" She replied "Uh you already are a real mom" True, but I didn't have any mom stuff. Guess working with kids for so long before I had my own made me look forward to the cheesy mom crafts from VBS-mugs, keychains, foam frames....) It was a short trip and she flew out Sunday morning. I realized later I have no pictures of her other than on my phone. Terrible I know. At Jacob's party all the big kids were in the game room playing air hockey and Wii so they only time I really saw them was for cupcakes and opening presents. We had a great time with all the family and friends that came. Thanks everyone!
What is this???

Jacob and Jaxs

One of Jacob's gifts was a little camping chair from Darrell and GayLynn Bonjour. Jacob loves it. The other night we had the TV on to dancing with the stars. First he danced around then decided to hang out in the chair and watch the show. He was fascinated. Note the cup holder also makes a great remote holder
After dancing with the stars Brancent decided sleding around the house would be a good idea. Dads! He took a corner to fast and dumped Jacob out on his head. Jacob recovered quickly and they were back at it for another 20 minutes.

Finish off the evening with a Blueberry Muffin and that's one good evening!

As always more pictures are posted at www.lyonsfamilyadventures.shutterfly.com. I have finally got Katie's bday pics there-thanks to Brancent for taking them. I'll post some of her b-day pics on the blog later next week.

Happy Birthday Jacob!

Today Jacob turns 1. I can not believe it has been a year, but what a year it's been! God has used Jacob to teach me more about His character and totally change my perspective on everything.
I was thinking this morning how a year ago I was impatiently lying in a hospital bed waiting for Jacob to arrive. A year later I'm chasing him around wishing I could lay down for 5 minutes. Funny how fast things change.

Hair cuts, Baby butts and a grand slam

I am so behind blogging and have so many things to blog about, but alas time is short so here goes.
Jacob went today for his first haircut. A little sad and so much fun! Our friend Edna cut his hair and he was a very good boy. He loved playing with the rollers and letting her spray water in his mouth from the spray bottle. Ahhhhhh good times...

Before

After

Most of you know we like the Boston Red Soxs. My favorite Red Soxs player is Jason Varitek. Don't ask me why I like him, I just do. He became my favorite since traitor Johnny Damon went to the Yankees...the worst part was they made him shave and cut his hair! Anyways I digress....Varitek hit a grand slam a few weeks ago as did my ultimate favorite player Brancent E. Lyons. I know baseball and softball are different but consider it impressive regardless. I'm so proud of you Brancent...and Jason. LOL Jacob and I missed it due to a 9:30 game time (really?!?) but Daddy gave us all the details the next morning.

On a rather sunny evening we were getting Jacob ready for an early bath and he decided to try out streaking. He was having a blast then got distracted watching Romeo outside. Poor Romeo doesn't know what to think of Jacob. You might be a little freaked too if a hairless pinkish/white creature was banging on the door squealing at you.

PS Hope to post again soon. More pics of the haircut are on our shutterfly site. Comment if you need the address or password
