Updates and sweet tooth
Jacob rolled over last Thursday from his back to tummy and of course I was at work. He spends most of his time on his side now which he seem to have discovered is a great way
to pin his hand down to suck on....grrrr. The rest of the time he spends smiling and cooing.
We are having such a great time with Katie here. Our conversations are the best, here is an example:
M: I need to give up Dr.Peppers, but it's hard because I have a sweet tooth.
K: I have a sweet tooth too!
M: Most people do. Do you know who has the biggest sweet tooth?
K: Ummmmmm who?
M: Wayne!
K: Really?......Which tooth is it?
(insert hysterical laughter from Melanie)
M: no, no it's not a real tooth, that just an expression, you know a figure of speech.
(insert lengthy explanation on what a "sweet tooth" and "expressions" and "figure of speech" means)
K: ohhhhhhh ok I thought it was a real tooth. My bad.
I love it! :D

Sunday afternoon
Apricots galore!
Katie made it back from camp and had a great time. She learned a lot and even learned some new songs. Last Friday after I picked her up we went to my parents house to pick apricots. I know it may be silly to say this but I am so proud of my little apricot tree. I planted it when I was five or six. I wanted to plant a pecan tree but when my grandfather found me trying to plant the shell of the pecan he explained you had to plant the whole nut. No way! Waste a good nut by burying it?? So I decided to plant an apricot tree since the seed in that can't be eaten. It has been replanted 3 different times and moved from NM to TX. Every year it has beautiful blossoms then a late freeze kills it. Not this year...if any of you would like some apricots send me a email.

Baseballs and Camp
Yesterday morning Katie left for GA Camp and the house last night seemed way to quite. She gets back Friday at 2 and I can't wait to hear what all she learned. Brancent was laughing at me yesterday because I was fretting that she would be warm enough, get enough to eat, sleep ok....I can't help it. Monday night we went to the Amarillo Dillas Baseball games with some of our Deaf youth. Jacob stayed with Grandma since he had gotten his shots and wasn't in the best mood. We saw the famous and funny San Diego Chicken and even ran into my friends Amy and Chris, but the highlight was when Katie "caught" a game ball (actually snatched it up when Brancent and the youth minister knocked it down). She was sooooo excited and wants to put it in a case in her room. She was worried I would want to sell it on ebay (I wouldn't even know how) and I assured her no one would want to buy it. So it sits safely in her room awaiting her return.
